About Maggie

Immigration has played a significant role in Maggie’s family history – her father is from Mexico and her stepmother and stepsister are from Cuba. Maggie has fond memories of helping her dad memorize the Pledge of Allegiance as he was applying for US citizenship. She was also able to support her stepsister when she went through the same process.

Maggie has been working in immigration law since 2016, first as a Paralegal and now as an Associate Attorney. During her last year of law school, she was the President of the Immigrants’ Rights Coalition. Her most memorable moment as an immigration lawyer was receiving a TN petition approval for a Canadian national after a challenging process.

Maggie has volunteered with the National Immigrant Justice Center, working on pro bono asylum cases to help lower income individuals renew their US work authorization while their asylum petitions were pending.
